A Cake Walk Finish!

Such a joy to get the opportunity to make a quilt for someone...
especially something that you hope will be with them for some time to come...

This one...as they are all, will be missed...
But hopefully really loved in it's new home...

That's my finish this week...anyone else have one to share?

It's a Cake Walk...

It's rare that I get an ENTIRE weekend to sew...
But I did this past weekend!

I started a new baby quilt and I must say, it was sooo easy-peasy!
It's a pattern from a book called Fast Fat Quarter Quilts, and the pattern
is called
Cocoa Cakewalk...

I just changed to the colors I wanted
and here is my offering for today...

I will quilt and bind it tonight, so check back or watch on Instagram for the
finished quilt!

Happy Monday All!!!

Things on a list...

I think that everyone growing up had a Christmas "wish list", I know I did...
But when I became a grown up...
I lost that list...did you?
Have you seen yours lately?

Well, this week...
I received an unexpected, sweet phone call
that reminded me that I not only should find that list,
but that I should put it up all around me so I could see it!

Sound strange? Maybe.
Now that I am officially back in the empty-nester world,
I think I should drag that list out, dust it off
and remember that everyone should dream!

And here's my dream...

You are looking at the Aussie Sewing Cabinet  by Kangaroo Kabinets in White Ash...

Wow...I would have a drawer!!!!

Just sit and soak that in...will you...
(all puns intended!)
Man.
I know....right???
The cabinet even folds up so when I have company
I can keep little fingers out of danger!

You see, I have a heavy sewing machine
just sitting on a $35 Wal-Mart folding table...
and don't get me wrong, I am so THANKFUL to have it!

But I sew slower so I don't bounce my machine onto the floor
and topple myself over in the process!!!

Sew there... that is my wish list...
there are only two items on it, but
wishes just the same.

What's on your list?
Inquiring minds want to know...

Happy Thursday!

No labor on Labor Day...

Weekends in our house are always crammed full of life events.

So, this weekend, when everyone was going to be gone hunting
with extended family or off with friends, I WAS thrilled to have them time
to just sit and sew....

Aren't the colors just fun? What a good scrap buster!
If you want to join in on the fun tomorrow...
the pattern for this is at

I hope to have a finish by the
end of the day tomorrow...

Happy Non-Labor Day!

Sew...What's new with you?

For a year, I was working on a new project for a couple of
ladies that had created their first pattern ever.
3 Stitchin Chicks created a lovely pattern and needed
someone to  make and quilt it...
Why did it take a year?..
Well, the first three months I battled my FEAR.
Ever do that?
I just didn't want to make a mistake, ruin material,
have it not turn out well...OH, did I mention,
I also had to write the directions as I went along?
 Yep.
I swear I went to sleep every night
with the word FAILURE running through my mind...
I almost gave up and packed it all back to them...
and then I did one thing.
I just STARTED.
Such a simple thought...but it worked.
Two weeks later, it was finished...
and I wasn't a quitter, I became a quilter.
A thinker. A writer. A happy girl again.

Ok, enough...Here she is...

First was all those hand appliqued "feathers"

Oh, and there were all those paper pieced blocks for the
feathers to be appliqued onto.

Laying all of it out kept me going...
it was beginning to excite me!

And then, it was clear that my problem was going to
be how in the world was I going quilt this???
I decided to keep moving forward and figure it out later...
hehehe.

Next, it was time to figure out how to attach all
the 3D feathers.
Right...but it did look cool coming through my
little Janome..

Now I was really moving...and she was beginning to show her real beauty.

And there she was...
Quilting was kept simple...

If you follow me on Instagram,
You have already seen her...
but now you know the story.

I really didn't want to give her back...
but I did...
When 3 Stitchin Chicks have their website up and running
and have the pattern for sale, I will be sure and
feature them here...
Those ladies are SO TALENTED...

till next time,
Have a great holiday!!!

Sharing a little creativity...won't you join me?

Today, I wanted to share with you one of the best courses I have EVER taken...
WHY?
Because not only did I learn a lot...
I found the courage to try some different things...
(more on that  in a later post...)

Jeanne Oliver has tapped into something here with her courses...
She meets women at the door of their hearts
and opens them up to something they always wanted to do,
 but didn't think they could...
(ever had a friend or child say..."I'm just not creative?")

For me, when I was younger, I was very creative...
perhaps a bit more brave in those days...
but as I have gotten older, I let some of that go.
Many reasons really, but mostly because I lost heart.
Are you there?
What I wished for was something to re-ignite that spirit in me.
Bring in Jeanne Oliver.

I have been a follower of her blog for many years.
I have purchased many of her designs as gifts for my girls.
But last year...she took a leap of faith.
She put it all out there and may I say
THANK YOU.

I want to share what I have found...with you.

Today, for the next 48 hours, Jeanne is offering
the courses listed above for only $18 each!
That is a $30 savings on most of these!!!

 Here's MY CHALLENGE to you!

Join me...take one....they will stay open to you
for an entire year, so work at your own pace...

You don't have to be a quilter...
you can be a writer, a painter, a mom with kids home for summer...
A wife looking for ways to create a home...
A student wanting to find out how to start a business...
or anyone else out there that just wants to do something creative!

DO IT!
 I dare you!
I signed up for the first three...
a couple I have taken before
but decided to take again - I learned so much!
and
THEY ARE ON SALE!!!!!

Will you come join me?

A few years back...3 maybe?

A little over 3 years ago, our little quilt shop grew up. We moved to a larger space and hired more employees. So much has happened in thos...
