How could I ask for more...

Just a little departure from my regular music...

Tomorrow, I will celebrate my anniversary with my sweet man Bill.
Who couldn't love those beautiful eyes...

This was our wedding song you are listening to..

What a gift it has been to have such a sweet man -
my heart is full of wonderful memories of the children we have raised,
the battles we have faced,
and how the Lord not only brought us through it,
but filled our cup to overflowing.

I wouldn't trade a moment of it for anything in this world!
So, we are off to the ranch this weekend to celebrate!

AND Then...

Dad with his sister - Aunt Barbara
We will  celebrate Bill's amazing dad's 80th birthday!

With my heart this full, how could I ask for more...

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

***Don't forget...I will announce a winner on Monday morning bright and early!***

Need a little help here.... *sigh*

Well, I worked on this quilt top this week...and although I really like the individual fabrics...
and the pattern ( Swirly Girls Design - Patchwork PDQ)...

IT JUST LOOKS ANEMIC....
I need some color swatches to look at ladies...any ideas?

Take a picture and email it to me or send me a fabric website or suggest a fabric...

I just sat a dark brown piece of fabric next to it to see what I thought.
ALAS....Still not doing it for me.

If I were on Project Runway OR Design Star...
this would be my undoing! I'd be sent home!
I would be hugging everyone goodbye!

HELP!

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!!

Upcoming Events!!!

Well, it is officially 5 days until I announce a winner for my
I am getting so excited! If you have friends that haven't signed up...Get them in here and signed up!!!!
The drawing is this coming Monday, September 27th!!! I am going to post it before I leave for work!!!!

AND...
I have two people that have signed up for my
PAY IT FORWARD EVENT!!!!!

Stephanie from The Queen of Unfinished Projects
and
Linda from Stray Stitches
(Linda is also having a YUMMY Give-a-way on her blog too!!! Check it out!)

I just need ONE more!!!!
Who will be my ONE MORE???

Ever done this???

Well, as much as I would love to say my quilting is perfect....
It's not!
The good thing about mistakes is that they can ALWAYS be fixed!
Nothing ever has to be thrown out!

So it is...with my Friday Night Sew-In Quilt...I am making this for a friend of mine's baby-to-be...
and found this!

Ever had this happen to you?
Well, I hadn't!
But I didn't want to throw this quilt out and start over....
AND
I have a STRONG adversion to ripping out all those already sewn stitches!
So, here's what I did!

First, I cut a strip the length of that side of my quilt.
I made sure to make it wide enough as to not have any more problems!!!

Then I folded 1/4 inch up and ironed one side of it.

Next, I placed the strip on my quilt where my boo-boo was!

I had to match up my previous sewing seam with the ironed fold so I could make it look like it belonged there...and pin it all safe and sound!

Once that was all done, I took it to my machine, and slowly and carefully began sewing (on the front side) down the original sewing line I had before.

Carefully removing pins as I went!
Once I was finished, I folded the newly added piece over and ironed it down.
It looked like this...

Not too bad if I do say so myself!
I only had to trim it underneath where the original material was (so it would lay flat) and then trim the top to the size of the quilt.

This took all of 20 minutes to do, (MUCH LESS than if I had removed all the stitching on the back of the quilt that I had already done to start over...) and it is now ready to be quilted and then bound.

Back on track...is always a good thing...

It Seams To Be Sew...Pay It Forward!

Here's the plan...
The idea is that 3 of you join my Pay It Forward and then
I will send a hand made gift (made with love!!!) to each one of my THREE
within the next 365 days!

Then, those 3 people must also host a PIF on their blogs
and ask for 3 people to join their PIF -  To pay it forward!

So this is me, asking for 3 people to join my PIF -
just leave a comment to this post !
That's it...no Catches!
NOW...
I only need THREE...
who wants to be my THREE????

Is Seeing Believing?

Everyone collects something...
For me, it is a word.

At first it was a gimic for me...
My Houston Astros were on their way to the World Series and the theme was

All of us would chant that word during a game when it looked like we weren't gonna make it...
But we did! Whooo Hoooo!
That's Right....THE HOUSTON ASTROS DID GO TO THE WORLD SERIES!

And so, that's how it started.

Everytime I would see a sign with the word

I would buy it...ok, if it was on sale... :)

But slowly, God began to show the real meaning of the word

through our life...

Things were tough.
Three of the five kids were in college and life began to feel empty.
Major LIFE and Major DRAMA happened.
You know...we aren't alone in that feeling I am SURE...

Then...
I realized that my little collected word

wasn't a chant for a baseball club anymore...

It was a choice.

I didn't have to put my faith in my circumstances, my job, my kids, my husband...even my reputation.
I only had to trust God - and

Now more than ever, everytime I see one of my signs, I remember this...

John 6:69

"And we

and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God."

So now...my collection is a choice to ...

that ultimately- no matter what happens - what life brings - what people say,
I still belong to my Lord...
and He loves me...

Happy Monday Everyone!
