Candle Mat Swap #2

Our little group had someone that lost their partner, sew...I was asked to do another mat! I was thrilled...
It's a little different from the last one, but I just couldn't resist putting another Santa on it...
This one will hopefully go out on Thursday...I have to work tonight for my job, so I won't have the time, but I will finish it tomorrow for sure!

Can you believe tomorrow is DECEMBER?
Hope you enjoy the Christmas music....
Back to work I go!
See you tomorrow everyone!

Just thoughts of the week...

Today, I caught myself reaching into the back of my mind for the moments
in time when I was still a little girl.

...I remember my mother dressed in beautiful evening gowns and her hair all done-up and her usually not painted nails, a beautiful shade of red...

...then from the other corner of my mind, I can see her at home - with me on the couch sick and her in the kitchen making me fruit jello in my favorite flavor grape.

...My father was an Army man and my favorite memory of him was of just the two of us, out late one night - on the banks of a favorite pond, fishing into the wee hours of the morning with our radio off in the distance gently playing music that seemed to waft across the water in stereo-phonic sound...

...My sister sitting up with me on a Christmas night playing our new Monopoly game until very late and we were both carried off to bed by our Daddy...
(I only pretended to be asleep most times, so he would have to carry me...)

...Thanksgiving dinners when Laura and I would be the "choppers" for my mom...

...Christmas music by Buck Owens on the stereo while my sister and I entertained our parents with our theatrics to the words of all the different songs...

...of my mom's creative picnics in the rain...

And no matter where I am in my walk, I now know this - when I look back at those indelible moments,

I am with my family again...
and I am very grateful to a most incredible Heavenly Father for choosing
those exact people to exist with me all the days of my life...

God was there then and is here now--
the ultimate caretaker of me, my heart and my soul...and now my memories.

And for all those things ...
I am so thankful.

FNSI - Results....

I stayed up late, went to bed, got back up and finished this top...still needs border etc...
I fell in love with this fabric...it's calming and classic. I bought this at Hobby Lobby...for a lap quilt for a church friend.
I sent a pic of it to my hubby (he's working at the ranch this weekend) and he doesn't want me to give it away!
That's never happened before!!!

and I have the house all to myself tonight.
I am especially going to love tonight, as I have a lot to work on, no interruptions, can stay up as late as I want, and it will be the last time this week before Thanksgiving that I will have the peace of mind to just focus on projects!
Happy Friday!

November Spare...

Cecilia was my spare partner this month on the block swap,
and she had asked for rich reds, blues and green...
you can't really tell in the picture, but in person, it really
is quite lovely. I reminds me of a cabin in the woods at night...
So I guess this is my version of a REALLY wonky cabin.

Who knows!!!
Can you tell that I am a believer that nothing is ever too mistake ridden to toss?

It seams to be sew...

And this one goes to....Andee for November

Andee asked for her blocked to be a pieced block with birds...
I didn't have any material with birdies on them, so I had to (just HAD to)
do a little shopping at FabricWorm.com for this project...
I hope this one fits her wish list....
Of Course I love it...I love the color!
