Sew...while you are waiting...

Since I have been working my little fingers to the bone...
Ok...since I have been working my little sewing machine to the needle...
to finish my quilt tops for all of you...

I thought I would share some of my great loves with you...
You have met my ever so wonderful and sweet man - Bill...

but have you met this guy?

He is what I lovingly refer to as
"Mama's Handsome Son"

This is my little baby boy all grown up.
You wouldn't know it by looking at him, but before he was born,
he was an answer to a simple, very humble and quiet prayer.
See, I thought I was having a girl the ENTIRE time I was pregnant with him.
His name was Jennifer Lynn in all his baby books...
and of course...
There is a story behind this...

I met a wonderful boy when I went to college.

His name was David.

We only dated about nine months, and we decided to get married!
We were married seven months when I found out I was going to have a baby!
And then we were married nine months when he was taken.

Sometimes, white picket fences aren't in the plan...or so I thought.
That's why I didn't think I would have a little boy.

Oh, but the Lord had other plans.
He heard my little quiet prayer and
six months later...
The Lord gave me back what the world took away.

So, here we are nearly 27 years later,
and

He is a tremendous big brother,

Hugging his sister Jen at her wedding...he was really sad she was leaving...

With his youngest sister Samantha at her graduation

a sweet young man...

and still my blessing...

David with his Dad's Mom...

When he was born,
I named him after his father ~
 because
his father's name was David
and it meant
"Beloved".

Joel 2:25
25 "And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten..."

  1. what a touching story, Lana.
"Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him." Psalm 127:3 and one of my favorites: "For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." Isaiah 41:15 It sounds to me that you got that help partially in the form of a son who looks strikingly like the husband you lost.
