Uplifting...

Well now blog family, if this doesn't bless your heart,
your blesser is broken!

I opened my email today to find this update on Joanne -
She is the lady on my sidebar that
I asked you to keep in your prayers.
Nearly 4 months ago, she suffered a massive stroke...
but here she is today...
Nothing short of amazing...
Good way to begin the weekend!

Thank you...

Thank you everyone for your comments, cards and letters.
They have all meant so much.
I have a lot to catch up on, and will start tonight!
Thank you for being so patient with me - all my block swap partners!
Here's a little piece of heaven my cousins captured in Austin, TX
last week at their ranch.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Love,
Lana

I will remember you...

My sweet Mom went home to be with the Lord last night.
A woman of great character with a servant's heart
was welcomed into Heaven into the open arms of her Lord.
She was greeted by her two sons, and the sweetheart of her life, Dad.
I couldn't ask for anything more...

My comfort comes from this verse:
Matthew 6:19-21
19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal:
20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

So, Mom, My heart is there with you,
Dad, David and Richard...and in a little while,
We will never have to say goodbye again.
What a sweet way to celebrate the promise of Easter this year.

I love and miss you already and am blessed greatly
for having you as my Mom.

A Finish...Baby Nate's Quilt

Well, I finally finished at 4:30 a.m., placed Nate's little quilt
in the washer and went to bed.
Got up a little late, but still in time for the shower for Nate's Mommy,
but when I pulled it from the dryer, I noticed it had a little yellow stain.
ARRRGGGHHH!
Back into the washer it went!
An hour later, out of the dryer it came AGAIN
and all super soft, warm and squishy...and no fabric softener stains! YAY!
Problem though...shower already in full swing...
and I am about 45 minutes across town.
I didn't make it.

Not to worry though, I will see them later
and she will still get to take it home
to her awaiting little nursery...
and from what I hear...all decked out in powder blue...

I chose to do a baby quilt that was
not so baby in look, but definitely in FEEL.
The combination of flannel and cotton
guaranteed the overall softness.
I must say, I do like the way it looks...

Nate's mommy was wanting a "grow with" sort of room,
and this quilt will definitely not scream baby forever...

Even though I didn't make the actual shower (at 10:30 a.m.)
the quilt was finished in time for baby Nate!

Just getting back in the swing of things...
so I thought I would start with little Nate's quilt...
Better get a move on...his mama's shower is Saturday!

A new look for a new day...

Imagine getting an email...of your own blog...and thinking...wow, that took a long time to show up...I posted last Thursday.
Then imagine opening said email of your blog and seeing that your best friend has gleefully hacked into your blog to tell the world about you!
In the midst of such a hard time for our family, my friend Patty, the joy in my soul, knew the best way to cheer me up would be to not let the little blog here go another day without a little sunshine.
I have to say, as I read it, I laughed at all the funny things she and I have done....the pj thing in front of the school...TRUE. What she didn't say was that once or twice, we actually sat there talking until it was actually time to PICK UP those kids of ours! LOL!
Anyway, today is a new day...and so I decided to seek out a new look...
I found this little background this morning...and it wasn't until I tried it out that to my Happy surprise, I saw the little rabbit by the wagon...and it that it looks just like my little Cotton! Needless to say...it's staying!

A new look for a new day!

I am looking forward to getting into the studio today and catching up on all my LATE blocks and getting them in the mail tomorrow!

I definitely have enjoyed seeing the comments left yesterday - they did indeed cheer me up!
One last thought...
Life is all about change. Sometimes I am good with it. Other times...not so much...this is one of those seasons for me in our family. I want my mom to be here forever, but she won't be...but I can love her bunches more before she goes home...and then it will just be a little while before I will see her again...and then there will never be THIS sort of change ever again... and God said that was a promise. I am holding Him to it.
I love you Mom.

***FRIENDS***

Alright bloggers....In Lana's absence I thought I would (hack) I mean fill in for her while she is away visiting family. I thought it would be fun and uplifting for her to come back home with some fun posts from her blogging friends. So here goes......a little history of how Lana and I became friends.

Lana and I met in 1992/1993 at church in Kilgore Tx. She was very friendly and truly reached out to me and our family. She invited me to work with her on making some gift baskets for the lady missionaries that were speaking to our church at the time. Since we both have the creative bug we really hit it off!  That was just the beginning. Lots of times we would find ourselves sitting out front of our kids school (sometimes still in our pj's) for hours just chatting in our cars, or we would visit each others homes and clean together or do laundry or decorate wreaths. We experienced our childrens childhood diseases together and learned all about lice and other yucky bugs.
She also had to play "mom" at my daughters birthday as I was in the hospital giving birth to my youngest son.
Through the years and now miles we have remained close. She has taught me many things and supported me when I needed help or just and ear to vent to when life seems so hectic and frustrating. She has even pursuaded my husband and I to buy land in West Texas very near her ranch so we can retire together and have a quilting shop! None of which I know anything about.
As with any woman our talents grow and change. Some become our main interest until we find a new love. Lana is no different. She has many wonderful talents besides being a wonderful seamstress/quilter. She also has a beautiful singing voice. She can tole paint, cut hair, photography and even calligraphy. These are just a few but I hope you can see that Lana is a special person. So, since Lana is my "chosen" sister I would love to hear about your best friends. How you met...a special talent or how they have been a blessing in your life.

I pray you all have had a great Friday night sew in and weekend. Lets make this next week a positive one!
.....in her absence, Patty

A few years back...3 maybe?

A little over 3 years ago, our little quilt shop grew up. We moved to a larger space and hired more employees. So much has happened in thos...
