Thank you's with This, Thats and These...

From time to time, when I find a new quilt shop that really
bowls me over, I will come home and tell all of you about it!
That's what I did when I recently visited OKC

Well, today...I came home and
I had a squishy package from said Quilt shop...
with a sweet note thanking me for writing about
their shop on my little blog...
and along with it...some really beautiful fat quarters...

That has never happened to me before...
I wrote about them because they really are the real thing...
Please visit them ONLINE or in person and tell them I sent you in!
I can't think of a better way to tell them
Thank you...
Thank you for such a sweet and generous gesture.
I really am STILL bowled OVER!!!!

And what can I say about that sweet man of mine...
He was in NY all weekend working...
and then
STUCK
because of hurricane Irene...
He was supposed to be home on Saturday...
Then Sunday...
But two grueling TRAVEL NIGHTMARE days
later...
He graced my kitchen doorstep
with his lovely presence...
NOW...
With all that going on ...
He found a JOANN's Fabrics...
and that's right girls...
(tissues permitted here...)
He brought me home those lovely
fat quarters you see above...
He said he had to go into the 120 mile an hour hurricane wind,
Uphill no less and BARE FOOTED...
to get those for me...
and you know what girls?
I BELIEVE HIM.

My last but certainly not least

My Hometown...

You know you are going to love
a new fabric line when:

You are cutting your strips...
and find YOUR Hometown
listed in the fabric...
(Sugar Land...)

The polka-dots are plentiful
and bright...

the colors draw you in
and make you feel at home...

and you are almost to the end
and your mind says...
I can't wait for a cold rainy day
to snuggle under this...

Just a little bit Hippie...

Do you ever see a material that just screams your name?
What's funny about this one is...
(ok, I am going to REALLY date myself here...)
But this fabric reminds me of a popular
television show when I was a very
YOUNG, ALMOST-BABY-aged child...
It was a hippie love show called
"Love American Style".

(singing...) "I'm a little bit Hippie"...
(ok, there I go again...dating myself)

ANYWAY....

I told my friend Patty I was going to post these
on my blog...aren't they BEAUTIFUL?

These are yet another example
of a WINNING DESSERT
made by ME...

*applause allowed here*

from this past weekend!
I can't believe it...
Two desserts - just days apart...
I must be on some sort of
Grandma Roll!

Have a FANTASTIC WEEK!

Love,
Lana

Something Old...Something New...

A cousin in the family recently brought
me a quilt top that had been started, but never finished.
She asked me to either fix or finish
it so she could at least enjoy it....

Sounds easy, but it isn't...

I can use some advice...
the quilt has some cigarette smoke stains, so:

A. Do I undo all the hand stitching (some is really uneven)
and simply wash the quilt top and start over?

 B. Should I try to finish the hand stitching
and then give it a good washing?

C. Undo all the hand stitching, put new batting,
new backing, machine quilt it, bind it
and then have it professionally cleaned?

The batting really is that thin all over...

Let me hear from you all!
I have until the first of September
to have this ready -
That is our family reunion!!!

Love,
Lana

Just a little Art Deco - Baby...

Tonight I worked on a new theme for my block swap partner!
Kurt wanted Art Deco for his block. His colors are what I think of as
classic "muscle car" colors...
Not sure If I nailed the Deco part of the art,
but it was a lot of fun!

Last week, I started another baby item...
and did some of my first hand stitching ever...

On Saturday, I was able to see my other
little daughter - and we took her little baby
shopping...isn't that the cutest little baby bump
you have ever seen?

 When Sunday rolled around,
I decided to try another first...
My first completely homemade Peach Cobbler...
(my friends will tell you..I NEVER make
desserts, cause they are ALWAYS awful...)

But this one....
YUM YUM YUM YUM!

How's your week been so far?

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.
If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

OK in OKC...

This week, I was able to sneak away from work for a couple of
days to visit my daughter in Oklahoma...and she always loves
going shopping..
After an afternoon of the mall and Target...and the movies..
(if you haven't seen the movie "The Help"...go! SO GOOD)
by some great fate...we landed here... LOL!

And this was the first thing I saw when i entered the shop...
Instant LOVE.

Projects hanging in their class...I just fell into that star quilt...

And look at this beauty...so much perfection!

All around the shop, there were so many pretty colors...

The shop itself is full of all sorts of quilty goodness!!!
Everywhere I looked, I saw designer fabrics galore!!!
It made me want to come visit my daughter at least
once a week now!!!

The shop is expecting a bus tour in a few weeks
that will be carrying 200 quilters! If you are on that
tour, you will most CERTAINLY love this shop!!!!

The staff is most gracious and very talented...
Remember that quilt I saw when I first walked into
the store?
Well, you guessed it...I bought the kit!
As it turns out - the inspiration of this quilt
came from a pattern called "BLOOM".
and the lady that put this re-design
of that pattern together actually
worked in the shop!

I thought she was as lovely as the quilt itself!
It was refreshing that she wanted to make sure that
I knew that this was inspired by another pattern -
instead of simply taking all the credit...

Sew...if you are in Oklahoma City, stop in and visit their shop!
You will not be disappointed!

I know I will be back - if not in person,
definitely ONLINE HERE!

Well, I can't leave without sharing what I
found at Target for my sweet little gb to be...

and you know it's true...
Gma already loves you...

A few years back...3 maybe?

A little over 3 years ago, our little quilt shop grew up. We moved to a larger space and hired more employees. So much has happened in thos...
