Back to basics

Now with ample time away for personal items...
it is time to go back to basics!

I have been working on some fun things
in the past few weeks...
and although I can't tell where this one is going...
I can show what it is...unfinished as it is...
This is my rendition of the candle mat for the swap!
I just fell into this pattern, and I think I like it...
ever make anything you wish you didn't have
to send out?  I think I will just make one for me
in the same fabrics!

After it's all cut out...finding the right layout is key

This was the fun part...piecing it all together

I took out the middle square to do a little twist...

I loved the way this looked...

And so then to try it out...

See? Doesn't Santa look happy to be the center of attention?

I will put a backing on this today, bind and quilt it and off in the mail
it will go tomorrow to it's new owner!
I hope she likes it. She asked for bright...do you think this will fit the bill?

like just yesterday...

October 30, 1985
It has been 25 years...
Jennifer Lynn

Her older brother David  immediately claimed her

Not much ever changed...
A sweet joyful, quiet little soul...
She used to go to sunday school every week
and she just grabbed on to Jesus with both
hands...
and He's held on to her.

What a journey...

Sew...Sunday...

Could have been a lonely day...

My sweet man Bill was gone working all last week,
 was home for a day,
and was heading out again
 for another week of work...

We are THRILLED
his business is just Booming it seems...

and thankful...

*****SO*****

After the Ladies Tea on Saturday...
I was in the mood to create.
I figured I would make up the little
door hanging that I wanted to do for the front door...

but one thing led to another,
and before I knew it...
I had a GOAL...
I would redecorate the ENTIRE house
before Bill returned home...

Oh, then it was ON!

The
Kitchen
was the first room
I decided to tackle...

I won this little beauty from Handmade by Heidi...
LOVE IT...Thank you girl!

A little something to brighten up the dark forbidden area
we ALL have on top of our refrigerators...
Truthfully...

I was a little traumatized by the whole experience...
Let's just leave it at that.

I have been just waiting
to hang this little baby...

That lamp is one of a set...
from my mama.
A little sprucing up...
and it's still beautiful.
(ok, mom. you were RIGHT. It is a timeless piece.)

Then I added a little more...
under the little lamp...
WAIT!!!
Did you see that on the LAMP?
That FABRIC
is part of the
 Beach House
collection
like what
I just had in my last
GIVE-A-WAY...

and now...in case you haven't noticed...
It is very dark outside.
That tends to happen when it's MIDNIGHT.

I had some cleaning to do...
it took a little while.
What can I say?

Oh, but wow...
who knew there was so much
real estate
in
MY KITCHEN???
I finally went to bed around 1 a.m.
I was tired.
I was extremely sore
and
I had to be up at 4:30 a.m.
to get ready for work...
but
I was extremely
 HAPPY.

I am really looking forward to my next room...

Stay tuned...

Just sippin' a little Texas Tea...

The Saturday Ladie's Tea was wonderful...
When Cindy called me to come and sing I was thrilled...she is one of those people that isn't just a friend. She's family.

And Bro. John...was my first music director...the one who gave me an opportunity to sing in our choir...and then eventually encouraged me to sing on my own...
and even after they moved and began their own church, he and Cindy came all the way back to Kilgore just to sing for my
 mama's Homegoing.

Yes.
They are my family.

And this is Mary...
I was so glad she came with me -
We both made some new friends that day...
What a blessing to have real friends.
Isn't she lovely?

I thought I would share a few of the tables...
Each one was decorated by a different lady...
Some with personal china..
Some with a little whimsy...
and some with prizes galore...
but all with beautiful tea cups.

I hope you enjoy them as much I did!

And Cindy made that delicious "secret" sauce for the fruit...

She SAID she would give me the recipe....

and she will....

And those little jewels are CREAM PUFFS! I had never had them before...

Oh, but I have NOW!!!!

YUM YUM YUM!

Have a good week everyone...
Take a little time to sip a little tea
in one of your finest cups...
and be a queen for the day...

A few years back...3 maybe?

A little over 3 years ago, our little quilt shop grew up. We moved to a larger space and hired more employees. So much has happened in thos...
